CRE's role in supporting Corporate Mandates: Change Management, Measuring Success and Building Momentum

Once an organization adopts a policy mandate, CRE professionals are a key part of the team responsible for implementation. Meeting the intent of these mandates can have a substantial impact on procurement, management and maintenance of real estate, as well as the workplace culture. It requires changing operations, changing what gets measured and changing occupant behavior. Many of the most current and common mandates relates to LEED and Green practices for real estate operations; however mandates occur in many areas of corporate culture – Break down silos! Consolidate supply chains! Move into owned space! Join us for a discussion on how to take a mandate and turn it into a catalyst for organizational change. We’ll include a case study of the Virginia Department of Transportation and their lessons learned on how to go green. We’ll also share best practices on driving compliance with a broad range of corporate mandates. Our discussion will include change management strategies that will help organizations continue to capture operational savings from their initiatives long after move-in.

We will look at a range of issues including:

-Engaging the workforce to ensure success: top-down versus grassroots-driven culture change

-LEED strategies that work: telework, transportation demand management, waste management

-Lessons from behavioral science: how to influence behavior and why change management is different for green initiatives
